that had lasted less than two seconds, perhaps? The indelicacy of their current positions? The way he’d barely had to touch her for her to come apart in his arms?

‘Here’s the plan,’ she said, her eyes tightly closed as she groped for a pillow to cover her face and hide her utter mortification at the speed of her surrender. ‘If you take your shirt and your trousers andleave there’s a slim chance I might be able to convince myself that this never happened.’ Sienna hit softness with her palm and dragged the fluffy pillow across her eyes and her nose, leaving only her mouth free for talking. ‘So…. you know…don’t let me keep you.’

More laughter from Lex and then movement from him. The mattress dipped but he didn’t seem to be getting off the bed. No, it felt a whole lot as if he’d rolled over towards her and propped himself up on his elbow. Which meant that he was in all likelihood staring down at her—and there she was with her legs open and her limbs trembling, stark naked, in the lamplight. Oh, dear God!

Forget her face, the pillow was needed elsewhere. Breasts, no! Lower. No. Lengthways to cover both those areas. Sienna positioned the pillow for maximum coverage, hugging it tight, her eyes still firmly closed in an increasingly futile attempt to deny reality.

‘What are youdoing?’ said Lex as he removed the pillow from her clutching arms, never mind her attempts to keep it.

Sienna eased one eye open and shut it again quickly at the sight of smooth supple skin encasing perfectly sculpted muscle. ‘Pretending I’m not here?’ she ventured.

‘Sienna, look at me,’ he murmured and she opened her eyes to find him staring down at her with an intensity he usually reserved for billion-dollar deals. ‘Don’t you think it’s a little late for that?’

‘Not at all,’ she said fervently. ‘I’m willing to give it a whirl.’ Anything to ease her embarrassment at the speed of her capitulation. ‘I, ah…I’m sorry I rushed you.’

‘It wasn’t that rushed.’

‘You lie.’

‘All right,’ he said. ‘I concede that we may have been somewhat hasty. But that’s easily rectified.’ The gleam in his eyes turned wicked. ‘Touch me.’

‘Again?’

‘You didn’t really think we were finished here, did you?’

‘I was really, really hoping we might be.’

‘No, you weren’t,’ he whispered and proceeded to show her why.
